Charcoal Amount

I seem to use too much charcoal on my cooks. Today it's about 52° right now with a high of 59° predicted. Light cool breeze. I plan on cooking 3 racks of BB for our company tonight which makes me ask:

Do you feel the "mini" Minion method would be enough charcoal for today's cook?

Rich, depending on the type of fuel you're using you could cut back. I know many on here will say fill her up and re-use, which I do but if I know it's going to be a short cook I'll cut back too. For the cook you describe using Rancher I'd use about 1/3 of a full ring.

Enjoy your cook!

Hey Rich, Using 1 1/2 to 2 Weber chimney full should be enough for your 5 to 6 hrs.cook at the 225-250 range. I say Weber chimney because it is a little bigger than most others. 1 full Weber chimney = 6 lbs = 100 briquettes, Check out the ribs recipe below which includes fuel amounts and start up methods. http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/rib1.html
