cedar plank soaked in beer/water combo?

Has anyone ever soaked their cedar planks in anything other than plain water, like beer with water? I don't want to burn the place down (wood ceiling on screened in porch)

I'm doing cedar plank salmon for only the second time.

I think you will be fine. Beer is mostly water.

Don't think that it would add any flavor.

Waste of beer if you ask me...but I'm also of the mindset that the cedar plank is also a waste of time...so perhaps my opinion should be disregarded.

couldn't taste a bit of difference. waste of wine.
