Carnitas!

Old cook from last winter. Pretty basic but tasty. 4lb pork butt cut in cubes. Used most of it for tacos, but some found its way into some egg rolls.

Browned the cubes, then into a bath with listed ingredients. Simmered for about three hours. Rested, pulled, ready to eat.

Tim,
You have been rocking the pictures of amazing cooks lately. I have a massive 9 plus pound shoulder in the fridge waiting to be cooked this weekend, I was sure I was going pulled pork until I ask this now I am debating if carnitas is not the right direction.

Thanks, Michael!! That would definitely make a lot of carnitas.

no oranges or orange peel? i've used coca cola in some versions i've made. have you ever done that or seen a recipe with coke in it?

There's orange zest and about 1/2C juice in the bath. I only posted the dry/spice ingredients.

I've done it with root beer, Dr Pepper, cola, etc.

Looks great.

There is a weekend-only place in Texarkana called Tacos Mi Pueblo. Their carnitas sopes, topped with some their green sauce, is one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten.
