I've shopped all the box stores and groceries, in my local area. (central Alabama)
they all have mesquite and hickory, but no
apple, cherry etc?
Can you give me a link?

I ordered 18 lbs from these guys recently. Did a nice job:

There was bark on some of it, but I have a heavy wood maul that I use to just tap the edge and the bark goes flying off. I got cherry, apple, alder, hickory, and cedar from them.

http://cabelas.com has mostly barkless 10lb bags on their web site if you want apple and cherry specifically. I've bought both from them before.

Also try your local tree trimming service. I found a great one that has Apple, Peach, Hickory, White Oak etc. for a lot cheaper then online or in the stores...

I highly recommend using BBQrs Delight pellets with a WSM. They work great (and no, I don't work for them - just very pleased with the results.) Put about 1/3 cup of the pellets into a tightly folded double HD foil packets, poke ONE small hole in the foil with a toothpick, and lay it on top of your coals.

She used to have a standing free sample offer - I left her a message a few minutes ago to see if she still does it, though she has said in previous posts that there was no time limit on her sample offer. Guerilla marking tactics, she called it.

Anyway, go to THIS POST describing her free pellet sample offer to see what has been discussed in the past. When I hear back from Candy, I'l update this post.

UPDATE - I talked to Candy, and she said that the offer of free sample pellets is still good. See post HERE for ordering instructions.

Ace Hardware, if in your area.

Keri, the BBQ Delight pellets work well in my Weber Kettle also, especially when setup for indirect cooking. I read another post where you had mentioned them. BiLo grocery store carries them in my area, not sure about AL.
Thanks Keri.

Jerry, I too am a new WSM owner.

I can find wood chunks where I live, however I couldn't find any oak. I did quite a bit of research and I decided on placing an order from this site - http://www.smokinlicious.com.
The shippment hasn't arrived yet but I'll be sure to post a reivew upon usage.

Good luck!

In my area, Fred Meyer (Owned by Kroger) carries cherry chunks....Nice, big pieces. If you have a Kroger nearby, try them. Also, try Home Depot. Hope this helps.
