Can I thaw a Pork Butt in a brine?

I plan to smoke a 12lb pork butt this weekend but it is still frozen. Can I put it in a brine to thaw? Any advice will be appreciated.
 
As long as it stays below 40 degrees, it'll be fine. I've done it many times with pork and turkey
