Can I smoke A Turkey And Ham At The Same Time?

This is a Honeysuckle White turkey, and a store-bought Virginia ham.

I plan to use applewood for the turkey, and I thought about smoking the Virginia ham at the same time with the turkey, but could smoking the ham have detrimental effects (flavor-wise) on the turkey?

Anyone ever tried this before?

Not a problem at all. If you are going to put them over each other just put the top one in a foil baking pan so it wont drip on the other. Go for it!

Thanks, James!

I have two spiral sliced ham butts, and one 16 pound turkey. I was thinking of putting all three in foil pans, but not sure just yet.

Spiral sliced hams are usually " ready to eat " so all you need to do is warm them up to serving temps. I do them alot on the WSM L&S around 225ish with water in the pan. You want to do them at lower temps because higher temps can dry them out. ( add smoke wood for a double schmoked ham ):wsm:

Turkey I would do higher heat,( if you want crispy skin), if not , then a smoked turkey is a beautiful thing.

I was going to do the hams between 250 and 300, but maybe I should reconsider that.

Maybe I could do the bird on the 18" kettle grill - that is, if it (16 pounds) will fit.

Yea it should fit, I did a 18# on the 18.5" WSM and had enough room. The turkey is going to take alot longer to cook than reheating the hams, so the kettle is a good option.
250 on the hams taint bad, but I wouldn't go higher then that.:wsm:
