Butter Ball Turkey

Has anyone ever tried to brine a Butter Ball Turkey and smoke it? I've done plain turkeys in the past. Someone gave me a Butter Ball for free. Should I smoke the Butter Ball without brine? Seeing how it's free I'll gamble with it.

Technically, it's already brined, but you could.

I did one and just rubbed it and smoked with some hickory and cherry wood. Awesome and juicy. If you have never done turkey, you need to do one this summer!

PS. I did mist the entire bird with olive oil as well... yummmm and that pop-up temp thingy tells you when its done!

Tony -

check what the packaging says. Butter ball makes both enhanced birds ("self basting") and all natural ones. If yours is an all natural one (it will say so), then by all means, brine.

My last turkey was an all natural butter ball. I brined it and it turn out great.

The Butter Ball turkey I had was a self basting turkey. I brined it anyway. I cut back a little on the salt. It turned out great. I would do it again.
