Burnt ends...for the lazy man

I've had a craving for burnt ends, but was too lazy to commit the time and effort to smoke a point cut brisket. I tried an experiment using boneless beef short ribs from Costco. I smoked them using sugar maple wood for about 4 hours, cut them into bite-sized cubes, then cooked with a little beef broth into a covered aluminum pan for another hour, then finally sauced and re-smoked for another 30 minutes. All things considered, they were a reasonable facsimile of the real thing, in half the time.

Not a bad idea, I have had those rib cuts from Costco and they are decent. Not quite brisket point meat, but would/will do in a hurry. Nice job man.

Those look really good and the pics look great too!! I usually see people using chuck roasts when making faux burnt ends.
