BTU's of European and North American GGA's?

I had watched several YouTube videos via from, apparently Germany, Italy and the UK, and noticed differences between the GGA’s there, and what I have in the US. I noticed, for example , those had lids with a thermometer, as well as a couple slots/vents. Wouldn’t this allow lots of heat to escape? Or, as I conjectured, perhaps those had higher BTU burners to compensate? Or am I simply full of it?

I feel stupid, and not for the last time, I’m sure: After looking at the eBay ad for the grill I purchased that’s on its way to me it also has the same slots as the European version.

Does anyone know if the BTU outputs are similar? I don’t believe that all countries measure energy output in “ British Thermal Units, BTUs, but should be able to make a conversion?

There's a slight difference.

The Weber UK and DE sites list the burner output at 2.1 kW.

The Weber US site lists the burner output at 6500 BTU.

The conversion factor for kW to BTU is 3412.14 BTU/kW, so:

3412.14 BTU x 2.1 kW = 7136 BTU

So, the European version of the GGA is rated 636 BTU higher than the US version.

Regarding the GGAs with thermometers mounted on their lids, those are consumer mods.

The Euro GGAs do not come with thermometers.
