Briskets at Albertson's

Just received the weekly ad in the mail. For three days, May 3-5, premium choice beef whole briskets are $1.99/pound. There's also an additional coupon for $5 off a brisket. And, if you wear something with the Texas Rangers logo on Sunday, you get an additional 10% off. Unfortunately, there is a limit of one brisket per trip.

Hmm, I might cruise a few and see if they have anything decent. I've found that USDA Choice is still hit or miss. Some have fantastic marbling, others just have huge pockets of fat spaced way out.

I typically check the meat section at my local Kroger every trip. About 1 in 20 or 30 briskets is a really fantastic one. I buy and freeze them whenever I find one.

There's one Albertson's by me that seems to get lots of BBQ cuts and there's usually a good selection so I'm hoping to get at least one good brisket. When they had pork butts for $0.99/lb. they had a bunch of large ones but the other close stores only received a few and were sold out within a day or two.
