I was thinking, if the diameters are the same, and if the water pan held slightly less volume, would this help with the clearance problem with wood chunks. Obviously the only way this would help is if the depth was reduced.
My smoker had been going for well over seven hours and it still has plenty of fluid left. (I was curious how long it would hold temp, so I kept the polder probe in after I removed the ribs. Once I measured the water pan I removed the probe and sealed the vents, but it was still maintaining temp).
Again, mine is an older model, so they might have changed it, nut just a thought.
