Best all purpose dry rub?

I'm looking for an all purpose (all meat) dry rub. I've always used Bone Suckin Sauces dry rub and love it, but its hard to get in this area. Recently, I bought McCormacks grill mates rub and it was awful....wouldn't break apart and came out clumpy on the meat.

Anyone know where I can purchase a high quality but good dry rub online?

LCH for anything grilled + brisket and chicken
BTRU for a classic BBQ seasoning with sugar. In fact, the 3eyz BBQ team rub tastes very simular to the BTRU rub.

feel free to modify from there.

I buy yardbird by the 5lb bag and modify from there

Ray Lampe (Dr.BBQ) Big Time BBQ Rub

Gene is right. Mix your own. There are so many combinations you can play with. To me that's the fun part of smoking and grilling. I have a bunch of recipes I'm still waiting to try. For me Chris Lilly's book "Big Bob Gibson's BBQ Book" does a great job at showing how to construct a rub and all the possible combinations.

Seems like making my own is the best way - and cheap. Anyone recommend a brand of spices? I know the supermarket ones are decent, but also pricey. Are there any online spice dealers where I can buy bulk or a "bbq" package?

Guess I'm too unorganized, or lazy, to make my own. I found Chupracabra Rub at the meat market I frequent, and we enjoy it on pork, beef, chicken and fish. And I even seasoned a batch of roasted almonds with it. Good stuff.

I go to the bulk barn. I have my recipe organized by parts or scoops, and and take 4 of sugar, 1 of cumin and so on. Then, when I get home I just dump them altogether.

This is my recipe which was built from Kevin Kruger's.

Parts/scoops/etc

4 Turbinado sugar
2 coarse salt
2 onion powder
2 garlic powder
2 dried sweet basil
2 paprika
2 ancho chili powder
1 chipotle chilli powder
1 freshly ground black pepper
1 ground cumin

I make my own as well, but that is not what you are asking about. If I was to buy a rub I would buy McCormick's Grill Mates Montreal Chicken Seasoning and modify it as needed by the meat.

It has the basics of most rubs (salt, pepper, garlic, onion). So from there you can add a little sugar, paprika, chili powder, or use it as is.

If you live in CA, AZ, TX then you have to start shopping at the 99 cent only stores. the spice isle is pretty darn good. They also regularly have one of a kind items that didn't move quickly enough at the larger markets. Excellent for buying foil pans, liners, etc... Another option is the mexican spice aisle at your local market where you can find bulk qty at great prices.

I made ribs with this rub just yesterday. Adds flavor but is not overpowering.

Actually I used the rib recipe from Harry's website, including the honey+brown sugar crutch stage. I was nervous about using this much sugar but the results was very good. By very good, I mean the wife really liked it. I also made a fairly hot sauce to go with it...

I use Mad Hunky Gen purpose BBQ rub www.madhunkymeats.com

1/4 cup kosher salt, finely ground
1/4 cup white sugar
2 Tbsp mustard powder
1/4 cup ground cumin
