Beep, beep, beeping this morning

Woke up this morning to a chirping beep every 55-60 seconds. Smoke alarm battery, right? Well I have three hard wired CO/smoke and two smoke detectors. Hard to tell which one was chirping. Took our best guess and started to replace batteries. After replacing them all, the chirping continued. Checked all for proper orientation and closed them back up. Chirping continued. Then one by one, I removed from the ceiling and sequestered them. All batteries checked good. Beeping continued and appeared to be from my family room ceiling. Surely not there!! After several rounds of installing and removing, I called the fire dept. They came out and in about 15-20 minutes, they located a battery powered CO detector on top of a shelf. No idea where that came from. i felt stupid, but happy. Great bunch of guys.

When the Parkinson's and Lewis Body Dementia began taking my mom from us. She never lost her twisted sense of humor. Amongst other issues she would fall out of bed. My dad could no longer get her up, so a call tot he fire dept would be in order. My parents were always apologetic to them for needing the help but the guys would always remind them it's what they were there for and it was their pleasure to help. One night after a couple of repeats in the same week, they came in, got her back up and comfortable and she looked at them and said "so what are yous guys doing tomorrow night?" Well they busted a gut and of course because of her thick Chicago/Italian accent on top of it.

In all honesty.... every department that I've ever interacted directly with has always been a heavily motivated bunch of people. Several years ago, a gent who was a year ahead of me was first on the scene, with a 1 ton ambulance just haulin' <BEEEP> at 11:00 PM down twisty turning roads, when I managed to get my blood sugar to drop to immediately life threatening levels. The local department here has a demonstrated response time of only a couple of minutes (we're less than a mile from the barn,) here, neighbors on both sides have made the call.
