I have a 4lb. beef cross rib roast and 3lb.pork butt. Which level of the grates do I put the meat on. Does one type of meat cook fater than the other?
 
Beef top Butt bottom. The butt will take longer because of the higher internal temp you will be cooking to (195-205). I'm guessing youre going to shoot for med rare to med on the beef? The rib roast will benefit from the higher temp on the top grate.Happy Smoking Bryan
