Beef loin question

Managed to get the buy of the year for me. Full beef loin strips at $5 per pounds. Bought 4 loins at an average of 5 pounds each. Cut 3 steaks out of the first one, with about 2 1/2 pounds left. soooo tender. didn't even need a knife to cut it, I just used my fork.

anyway I'm wondering if it's smokeable? I know you can smoke anything, but maybe it's just best to save 'em for steaks.
 
You can smoke them. Low temps till about 15-20? shy of your target internal, then sear to finish.

That sounds good. I want to try that.

Water pan or no?
 
You can go either way. I go with. The operative issue is to keep the temps on the low side so that smoking/cooking occurs slowly enough to allow for some smoke adherence, not so fast that the meat temp rises and it gets close to finish too soon.
