I recently had elk jerky. Much better than beef. Try some if you can find it. Super tender, soft and flavorful.We all love a good deal, moist and tender meat. Why do we love beef jerky?

Same reason we love potato chips and creamy mashed spuds.

I always thought beef jerky was way overpriced until I tried making it myself, then I understood the cost factor. Bad beef jerky might be one of my saddest disappointments. I watch a lot of old cowboy shows on tv, I bet those days it was mostly bad jerky.

Funny you should start this thread today. My wife asked me yesterday when I was going to do a batch of beef jerky. I told her I had an eye of round in the freezer I could thin slice and get a batch going. She said, "No, use that for pastrami". Like the old Almond Joy/Mounds ad. "Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't"
