Beautiful Feb day

It's a rare warm Feb Sat here in Central IL and though I still feel crummy from the office cold, I couldn't resist firing up the WSM. I had a pork shoulder that's been mocking me every time I open the freezer and there was no way I couldn't take advantage of this beautiful weather. Heck, it practically smokes itself. I pulled it out yesterday to defrost and rub and willed myself to feel good enough to pop it on the smoker. I promised myself plenty of nap time during the smoke. My youngest made a batch of the root beer BBQ sauce from this site and both daughters will help me with coleslaw and beans.

We have all been sick over the last couple weeks. I'm CERTAIN the judicious application of smoked pork possesses healing powers and this "taste of summer" should drive any viral crap straight out of us. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Anyone else refuse to let the gift of such a gorgeous day pass??

Sounds like a cure for sure to me Carrie.
It's 75 and sunny here, no real cooks planned, but I'm heading to the deck soon, with something cold, in a glass, in my hand.

Gorgeous day here in Louisville also. No cook planned for this weekend due to some work crises. I did however smoke a chicken yesterday in 25+ mph winds. Part of my pitmaster education. What I learned was my dogs are smarter than me. They stayed inside.
