BBQ'd Barley

I don't see any love for Barley when using it with BBQ as a side dish. Seems to me it would be a good way to add another texture to a bean recipe or add a pan with Barley, mushrooms and broth and let that soak up some drippings in the WSM, or use it as a grain in Brunswick Stew.
Barley goes with beer and beer goes with BBQ, so does anyone have any ideas?

One of my favorite stews is Beef with Barley (from The New England Soup Factory Cookbook). I'd try it.

Similar to this one Clint (one of my all time favourite winter suppers) Barley Burger Stew made with hamburger. I think though if barley was mixed with beans (as in the first post) it might be a tad "heavy".

Yum!

That's what I was making yesterday on a cold rainy day, a Beef Barley Stew but I wussed out and cooked indoors, a kiss of smoke would of bought it over the top.:wsm:

Save some rib 'cut offs' from already-smoked st louis trimmings in the freezer for the next version Tim (or brisket).

Thank's Len. I usually smoke a chuck roast for a few hrs than chunk it up and brown it in the pot. Some leftover point does sound good. The leftover Chuck Eye roast I did for one of the throw-downs made a great Beef & vegetable barley soup.

Edit: I just remembered a child hood favorite Scotch Broth, now I need to BBQ some Lamb Shoulder!:wsm:
