BBQ Guru Mod

First I have to thank PeterZ for helping me with info to complete this mod. The mount was made out of a camping bowl that I found at REI, Guru adaptor, bolt, nut and a couple washers. The bowl did seal up rather well after tightening it down.

Now if I could just get a break in the rain maybe I could try it and some of that new Cowboy Lump I picked up at True Value yesterday.

Looks great, but what benefit does this offer over the stock adaptor with the hole plugs? What does the inside look like?

The main reason for the mod is to minimize the heat transfer to the fan, I don’t like it when the fan is hot or warm to the touch. (OCD kicking in)

No mods were done the bottom it is still original.

I know this is an old thread. I really like this mod and was wondering how it is working out? I plan on getting a party q very soon and would like to get some input on this mod.

I keep thinking about doing this type of thing to cover up my One Touch vents on my kettles so I can throttle my intakes better for low smoking on them.
