I'm planning on building a cart to store my smoking and grilling gear. I'll make it out of wood and put casters on it for mobility. My grilling and smoking area is just outside the basement door, the area is protected by a deck above but is not weatherproof so the cart will be stored in the basement. I'm currently leaning towards a wood top for simplicity, but wonder if a tile top would be worth the expense and effort. I'm not sure what wood I'll be using, cedar would be nice but my wallet will probably dictate that I raid my scrap pile and slap a coat of exterior polyurethane on it. I currently have planned the following features:
2 plastic bins for charcoal storage, I'm thinking tall kitchen garbage cans. 1 for kingsford and the other for lump.
4-5 bins for smoking wood, I usually have mesquite, oak, apple and hickory on hand.
A couple of drawers for storing thermometers, gloves, matches etc.
Paper towel holder
Bottle opener on the side
So what features am I missing? What features would you deem essential?
