Bay Area Beef Rib Alert

Hey, all! I know I have had a hard time finding beef ribs in the Bay Area w/o special ordering. Given that it's one of the topics of the month, just wanted to let you know that Lunardi's (http://www.lunardis.com) has beef ribs on sale this week by the rack for $1.69/lb. I just picked up a couple of slabs, and they look good.

Note of caution: They only had three slabs when I went (San Carlos store), so if you're heading over, you might want to call first to make sure they have some fresh cut whole slabs (make sure to specify whole slabs!)

Beef ribs suddenly became scarce around here (North Dakota)within the last 2-3 months. While never easy to find, the supermarkets would bring them in approximately once a month or so. When asked, the butchers at several of the area supermarkets said that beef ribs are being kept out due to Mad Cow. Considering that ribs are the only bone-in beef that went missing, I'm hoping that this was just an urban legend. Anyone know for sure?
