Basting ribs do or do not?

I was wondering if I should bast my ribs or not to bast during the cooing process. I do intend to add a glaze to them at the end.

i never baste ribs on the WSM. i used to spray with apple juice every hour, but after not spraying once i could tell no difference. every time you take the lid off you are adding more time to the cook as well.

Another vote for not basting. I still use the apple juice spray with nice results on the ribs, though I'm still in newbie status!

I don't baste either...but I typically spray them down with apple juice right when I pull them off. Its not necessary though.

I have yet to make a good rib, so I really changed it up today. I did not marinate the meat overnight, just sprinkled the rub on an hour before. I used only 5 small chunks of wood, and I am not going to crack the lid till the 4 hour mark.

Like Tony I used to spray every hour but then tried without and couldn't tell a difference.

I will however throw a little fruit juice in the foil packets when foiling.

Like the others said, not really worth it. I never sprayed or mopped a rib yet. Don't expect I'll start anytime soon either.
