Things are tough all over and we're all trying to stretch those dollars. I've become a regular shopper at my local SaveMore store. Picked up 10 single pound Jimmy Dean breakfast sausages. All the sausages were frozen and a day past their pull date. A couple days ago, I loaded the top grill with all 10, added hickory & mesquite chunks and smoked away. Good times! I chilled them over night, vacuum sealed and froze them for later consumption. I love that most of the fat is rendered away and the flavor? SMOKIN'!

Great minds think alike CW! We keep a few in the freezer for quick platters and such!

Larry,

I know you would defrost those but do you serve them hot or cold? I am guessing cold by the looks of that tray but thought I would check.

Yes that particular fatty on the platter was served cold. If you wanted to serve it warm, you can place the bag directly out of the freezer into a pot of cold water, bring to a simmer, turn the heat off and cover for 15 minutes or until warmed through. You don't want to over heat it, just warm it up.
