Ball check valve on Mini?

Anyone use the ball valve for an air intake verses the stock one? I've noticed that after 3-4 hrs my temps start to drop and only the center of my lump burns were the intake is. I usually have a good 2-3inch thick ring of lump that just doesn't catch around the ring. Now I haven't built a basket it for it yet and that will probably solve my issue. Just wondering if someone has an opinion on the check valve vs stock.

Yep, I use two of them. If you're cheap gate valves would also work. They are also great for lighting the mini. Fill the charcaol basket up, stick a a torch in the valve and you'll have TBS in 5-8 minutes.

You can also use the ball valves to hook up a smoke mialbox for cold smoking.
