Bacon on Genesis

My wife does not eat red meat and does not like the smell of bacon in the house. I usually cook bacon on the side burner of my Genesis, or by just laying the bacon on the grill. I tried something new yesterday and made an aluminum foil pan. Cooked with lid closed so it was a combo of frying and baking. Best bacon I have had from the grill.

BTW, I cooked direct with medium heat. With lid closed internal temp was 400 degrees.

That's pretty cool, and I am willing to bet it tasted better cooked outside, because EVERYTHING else does!

How can a person not like the smell of bacon? I LOVE IT!
btw my wife doesn't like the house to smell like bacon ether.

Thanks guys - and yes the bacon was the best I have ever made. Also, this way makes for easy cleanup - no pan to wash and no "drippings" on the catch pan under the grill. Just throw away the foil after keeping any grease you want to save.

And Bob, I made one of my favorite sandwiches instead of a BLT. When I worked at the PX in college (flipping burgers and making shakes and sandwiches) one of my classmates had a sandwich he always ordered. It remains one of my go-to sandwiches. The recipe is: Fried egg (mini scrambled) with a slice of cheese after flipping. Put on toast with mayo, bacon, sliced tomato, and a slice of a large onion (raw of course).

We called this the "Sam Horner" after the classmate - he was a running back and kicker on our foorball team at VMI and went on to become a kicker for the Atlanta Falcons as a pro.

Enjoy,

Ray

That Sam Homer sounds tasty!

One of my favorites is to make a regular toasted cheese, but add cooked bacon and raw onion.
