Auto Temp controllers ???

Seems to me that you could decrease your temp by my entering a new lower set point. I do not have one, but that would seem to reason.
 
Lowers temp the same way you do now. Shuts off air to the fire.
With mine I have all vents closed except the one hole that the controller mounts in. Blower has a flap that closes when blower is off so virtually no air flow when not blowing.
The nice thing is that it is rare for there to be a spike more than 20 degrees and that will come down in about thirty minutes or less.
At my age overnighters just take to much out of me if I have to continuously monitor. The controllers does it for me.

I have the Auber ATC unit, accurate to within 1 degree. I am able to go 20 hours on a full load of Stubbs on my WSM 22. It's set and forget. I use it primarily for long cooks. Its more of an insurance for me.
