Austin tx bbq smoke ban

People smoking meats and enjoying smoked meats at BBQ restaurants has gained in popularity. It figures that sooner our later all that smoke was going to be a problem with some people. Lets hope that solutions are looked for instead of knee jerk reactions such as banning all smoking.

I guess these politicians in Austin are going to want to get rid of places like Franklin's or others that not only create jobs but also tourism. I expect this in California but not Texas. I will make nice and say no more.

exactly bob. very short sighted. I've also read that these politicians have made no real effort to get the residents and businesses together to make some sort of compromise. they went straight to legislation. talk about throwing out the baby with the bathwater. apparently there is one major bbq restaurant at the bottom of some cliff and the residents above that have a ton of smoke and that's what started this. so let's kill smoke everyone because one restaurant is a problem? makes sense to me.

I've been following the story. To me it looks like they'll figure something reasonable out. Kent Black's seems to be causing most of the issues. The city is zoned terribly if there is any zoning at all. The law effects businesses 100 ft from residential areas which they've reduced from 150 ft and it looks like they've softened the language from insisting they have to have scrubbers. I'm hopeful.
