I have recently acquired some freshly cut apricot wood, does anyone have a testimonial for using this as smokewood? There isn't much on the board regarding personal experiences using apricot. Thanks.

I've not used apricot, but I have used it's cousin Peach. Excellent smoke, very light and just a bit sweet. I think you'll be extremely happy.

FYI, If you can eat the fruit or nuts from the tree, then the wood is good to use for smoking.

I just got some apricot limbs from my brother-in-law. Still sappy, so it needs some drying. But I'm really looking forward to trying something different.

I use apricot wood from my tree.
I cut it up and let it dry for 6 months then use it. It has a light sweetish taste which I like, I only use a couple of pieces per cook..

Regards

i use a lot of it cause i have a lot of it, and because i like it a lot. really good. i've posted about it before. go for it.

Apricot is a winner. I might actually like it more than cherry and it still gives a nice deep color to your smoke.

I say, "Smoke it up."
