Apple and Cherry woods at Home Depot this year

Noticed that Home Depot will be carrying cherry and apple wood chips and chunks this year. In the past all I could find at HD was hickory and mesquite.

seems to be a stock item in a bunch of HDs now. i got a bag of each the other week at mine. about 7 bucks for a 10 pound bag if i remember right. i guess that's decent if your only option is getting it shipped. i wish they would start carrying pecan too.

They had spots on the shelves at my local HD, but only had mesquite and hickory in stock.

Anybody check Lowes?

Are you referring to the Weber brand chunks? I haven't been to any of the five Home Depot stores in my area yet, but I was on their website and they have only Weber cherry and pecan chunks in 5 lb. bags, and they're only available online. More than likely, and I'll be very surprised if it's any different, my local stores will only carry hickory and mesquite. My guess is their perception (and their marketing department's) is that Boise, Idaho is not a big area for grilling/smoking fanatics like me. Yet, they sell grills and smokers ALL the time, and a lot of them, too.

Who knows? As Bob Dylan put it, the times they are a-changin'....

Not sure if you have a Gander Mountain (sporting goods) near you but they carry pecan chunks among others.

no we don't have one of those here. barret, the chunks at HD are charbroil brand. my local HD website only shows weber chunks and online only as well. but they do have the charbroil chunks in stock even though they don't show on the website.

Was actually able to get Apple, Hickory and Mesquite chunks from HD, but they don't carry Cherry so I had to order that. This was about 2 months ago and I was surprised to see it because their website said it was only available online. They were on sale so it was $4.99 for a 10lb bag. They were hard to find and not kept near the wood chips, they were actually around the corner on the bottom rack on the end. They were almost hidden! Happy I saw them, but I bought enough that I haven't looked since.

I hope this is OK with Chris for me to post, but if you shop on aimtofind.com they have better prices than HD and no tax. They also ship free if you spend like $50. I didn't compare to Amazon, which may be even better since the free shipping threshold is lower.

Yup, I found the apple and cherry wood at my local HD. Glad to see they are stocking that wood now! Good-bye BBQ Galore!

Will have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up. I have seen apple chips in either Home Depot or Lowes a while back but not chunks.
