Any opinions on square charchoal grills (e.g. Meco)???

Yes, yes, Weber is the way to go. But my father-in-law asked me to keep my eyes open for a used charcoal grill for him. Craigslist up here just doesn't have the same amount of Webers that pop up for sale. So there's one of those square ones that I'm sure you've all seen. Adjustable grill height, side tables, etc. ARe they any good? I can pick one up probably for $20.

For many years I used a Meco Swinger II when on vacation and it worked OK for grilling. The charcoal pan could be raised and lowered and I found that replacing the pan with a coalgrate for a 22" Weber kettle definitely improved combustion. The grill had sliding adjustable vents along 2 sides but no vents in the bottom.
