Another way to light a chimney

I load my chimney with newspaper and leave it on a concrete block.

Tell me more about the mapp torch technique! by mapp torch, do you mean like a small handheld propane plumber's torch and you just heat up a few briquettes in the pile and it takes off on its own? this sounds way easier than the chimney!

Yes, I believe Mapp gas is a hotter burning type of propane. You'll find the Mapp gas along with the regular propane bottles at building supply stores. The Mapp bottles I have seen are yellow in color vs. the blue bottles of the regular propane. The Mapp gas does cost more.
