Another 56" Vieluxe Restore

Nice job!

I really like that central drip pot!

My Wolf (almost the same as Larry's) the grease dumps to a slide out tray with a rim maybe 1/4" high so no real capacity. Tray is just below the burners.
Mike was fortunate to be able to save his pot. Mine was Swiss cheese!

I bought a stainless pot/pan of virtually identical dimensions to replace it, and I found 7" foil pans that will at least somewhat serve as liners to make cleaning easier:

Here's a link as they will fit in the original pan as well. However, be aware that shipping was prompt but horrible. These were just stuck in an envelope and were very beat up when they arrived:

Still have some stubborn carbon spots on the rear stainless—would love anyone’s feedback on how to get that off.
Looking GREAT!!

Memebers Mark grill and over cleaner and a scrub daddy. I had a couple real tough spots that I carefully picked at with a razor. I also Soaked a rag in it and left it on the areas to soften it up.

Hey all…got a few updates on the ol Vieluxe! Got my new flavorizers and smoke tubes from Dave Santana—awesome quality—love the way these things make the inside pop.

Also put some non-permanent hangers on the side for my grille tools.

Finally, since my original temp gauge was shot, I ended up ordering a nice Tel-Tru one—most probably know you can’t find a new gauge to fit the original bezel. I took the bezel to my local machinist along with the gauge and he hogged it out to fit the new one! Of course the parts Vieluxe grill I picked up had a temp gauge in excellent condition, but not sure if it’s accuracy—going to use the original gauge for now, but will keep the other as a spare just in case.

Calling this grill done with the exception of maybe some more cleaning, and lubing the valve knobs at some point. Thanks for everyone’s help along the way!

Looks super great, Mike! My Vieluxe has a lot more issues, and I think I am operating on a thinner rehab budget. The new stuff from Dave Santana looks amazing as his work always does.

My thermometer is fighting my efforts to get it off. I wish I could get my bezel machined like you did.

The lack of any tool holders is one seemingly obvious thing the engineers overlooked when designing the beautiful Vieluxe. You came up with a slick fix. Magnetic holders obviously won’t work😆!

Thanks Jon! Yes getting thr old thermometer off was a total pain. I ended up hitting the threads with penetrating oil, then heating it slightly with a torch. I then used my impact gun (for working on cars) set on a low setting and was able to work the nuts off. I also used a rubber pad in my hand to help “grip” the gauge face.
