Yes that is the type of material its made out of.Kind of looks like a cutting board…
Sure thing John I'll post some pics of the two motors--also have to test them to see if they work. I still have to check the spit as well--I can tell it's not the original one, but maybe it will fit.I am guessing that shelf thing is just something the seller added in. Almost wonder if they tried to put a propane tank in there!
When you have time, you might post pictures of the two rotisserie motors. (Mine was missing this!) The original had a stainless exterior. It was probably a Weber one, but maybe no Weber name(?)
Does the spit that you have not fit your grill?
The SS one looks like the one my Wolf usesHere are the two motors that came with the grill. One looks like the original stainless one, while the other is made by Brevel. Both work!
I would say that the stainless Weber one was original with the grill. The black one maybe is something that the seller picked up later. I wouldn't be surprised if the original one no longer works as that would explain the black one. It will be interesting to see how they test out. Here are the two motors that came with the grill. The one you linked for me is on the way! I appreciate you sharing your experience.IIRC Jon, early Weber rotisserie motors were made by the same company of the one I gave you the link to and made here in USA

Apparently those items are the same as the Summit of the era, from what I've gathered here. Maybe that gives you a path to go down.I’m on the hunt now for a correct spit and forks—let me know if anyone has any suggestions.
My spit is 3/8” in diameter and drops down to 1/4” at the point where it goes in to the motor. It is approximately 46” long and is clearly original. The stainless weber looks exactly like mine
I’ll measure my spit size this weekend
Jon what is the size of your spit rod?
Jon, I think you're gonna be surprised. Those motors (like the one on my Wolf) are typically looking for a 3/8", 7/16" or 1/2" rod end. IIRC my Wolf is 7/16"My spit is 3/8” in diameter and drops down to 1/4” at the point where it goes in to the motor. It is approximately 46” long and is clearly original.
It sounds like you have the motor part solved. Mine will arrive from an eBay seller soon.
Good news! Motor arrived safe and sound today. A little dirty but working fine. The quality stainless casing polished up very nicely. It is incomparably heavier duty than my OnlyFire (meant for a kettle) and any Weber motor I have seen.Jon, I think you're gonna be surprised. Best news is that it fits perfectly on the Vieluxe, and my original spit matches the opening! If I ever get this monster project grill cooking again, I am ready to finally spin a couple birds.
I an very grateful for your recommendation and for finding that one on eBayExcellent! Great news
I was lucky enough to find one brand new factory sealed for the Wolf for cheap. IDK if the seller realized what he had.I an very grateful for your recommendation and for finding that one on eBay. Looks to be perfect for this project!
You do know that you can spin with IR burner only - no burners or bars required…Good news! Motor arrived safe and sound today. A little dirty but working fine. Yeppirs! I only run a burner on the Wolf for a smoke pouchYou do know that you can spin with IR burner only - no burners or bars required…
And if it’s like mine, the smoke burner and igniter were fully intact if extra heat or flavor neededYeppirs! I only run a burner on the Wolf for a smoke pouch
Sadly Wolf doesn't have a smoke burner so I light the 2 outside and place a smoke box or packet over each to keep things "balanced"And if it’s like mine, the smoke burner and igniter were fully intact if extra heat or flavor needed
