My grandfather turned 80 on Saturday, so I decided what better way to celebrate than with pork. It also gave me a chance to try out my new PartyQ for the first time.
I found a 9 pounder for pretty cheap at Wegman's.

Injected with Chris Lilly's championship injection, and rubbed with the Mr. Brown rub.

Got her on the pit around 9pm. Full water pan, Royal Oak Briquettes and 8 chunks of Pecan wood.

14 hours later at 11am, she's ready to be wrapped and held in a cooler until the party.

Clean bone and easily pulled. Incredibly moist.

Here's my plate. I make them fat because I'm fat.

I also tried my hand at some pig candy. Here are a couple before and after shots. I used the recipe I found on this site on some Oscar Meyer hickory smoked thick cut bacon.

The bottom ends burned a little, but I just cut them off and tossed them. They were delicious and disappeared faster than the pulled pork surprisingly.
Grandpa had a great time. I just hope I can make it to at least 80!

Thanks for looking
