8 mouths 7 pound brisket

Hey everyone-

Just another newby question. Will a 7 pound flat feed 8 adults? Just wondering because looking at Chris's pictures on his brisket pages the finished product looks as if there is quite a bit of shrinkage. Because of this I bought a pork but and can cook that also, or freeze if I have enough brisket.

Not sure how much shrinkage on just the flat. If it is as high as 50%, you will cut it close.

Here is the math I would use......

Plan on 1/2 pound per person. You will end up with 3 1/2 pounds of brisket, so that is pretty close.

However, not everyone will eat 1/2 pound of meat, especially if you have other sides AND the pork butt to fill in.

So, if you plan on 1/4 pound per person you will be safe.

Make sense???
