First time smoking a piece this small. Should I still expect about 8 hours cooking time?

I believe it depends on your pit temp and whether you foil or not. I run about 275* and don't foil so for a butt that small I'd est 5.5 to 6.5 hours.

The smaller ones seem to take longer than you'd expect I have found. Depends on your pit temp and of course the butt. 8 hours should be plenty though..

I just did a 4 pounder earlier today and it was done in 8 hours @ around 225F, so that amount of time should work just fine for yours.
