22 Bar B Kettle has a new home

I found this 22 Bar-B-Kettle for free. some problems, but over all shape seems good. some rust, and one of the leg has a weld coming off.

Any suggestion on what to do?

what are those thing that are rusting inside with the grates? are they coal holder?

as to the leg socket, i would drill a hole through it and install some ss hardware. or weld it if you have the means. no matter what it will still cook as well or better than a new unit. congrats on a great save !

Don't know the price you paid, butt i'd ride it out and get as many grilled meals off of it as possible without correcting the weld-break.
It'd still last many years without falling down.

Jim, got it 'free' from a very nice older lady. I thank her many time when i saw what she was giving away.

As for that weld coming apart, I would finsd something that kills or neutralizes rust and then try some JB Weld on it. That stuff works miracles..
