22.5" WSM door

All,

I have had my 22.5:WSM for a few months now. I have put it through 4-5 smokes and since Smake Day 7 I have left it on my patio in direct sunlight. I usually put in on my patio and put the cover on it, but after cleaning it, I just left it out there in the FL sun.

I go and set the smoker up today, and as I begin this cook, I notice the door is not fitting well as it did when I first adjusted it out of the box.

If this typical? Do I need to go and buy the Cajun Bandit's SS door to prevent this?

i doubt the florida sun has/had anything to do with the door not "fitting well"...
considering the heat from inside the cooker is soo much hotter than even the legendary intensive florida sun...

Stupid me for not even thinking that through. I found the problem after I posted.

The top lid vent was shut and the side door wasn't put back on correctly, so more than a normal amount of smoke was coming out of the door.

I noticed it from the house and when I went to look at it, it wasn't a flush as it had been.

Thanks for the reply Jim. I will put my thinking cap on next time.

I got the Cajun Bandit SS door for my 18" and I like it. The thicker door has a nice tight seal and it just feels sturdier. Even though you fixed the issue with your stock door I would at least consider the Cajun.

I have the original alum. door over 12 years now. twice I had to gently flex it to fit better. The little bit of smoke that gets out is minor. I think it adds to the character of the smoker! Over all the WSM is more air tight than most smokers! Also the temp is easy to control..
