2005 Summit Platinum

I rescued this 2005 Summit Platinum from the original owner who was not inclined to make an effort to restore it. It was in pretty good condition but for the cookbox of course and the inner panel of the lid. After several emails and phone calls, Weber will be sending me a new lid, but there are no more cookboxes to be had. I started fabricating panels to fit over the burned out corroded sections. I’m in the process now of reassembling the grill. I will need to replace the igniters, as the covers are mostly shot. The flavorizer bars may have a year or two of life left in them.

That is an awesome grill if you can fab up the cook box parts. If you do come up with a fix, please post up the details here as there are a lot of members that would love to be able to bring these grills back to life. But, like you found out, those cook box panels just do not exist any longer for some reason.

i have one also what i had weber send me a gold cook box the color is wrong but the same cook box 82574 they still had a couple in stock give it a try i got one for mine

Called this morning, CS said nothing showed up for that part number, that it was also discontinued with none available. Lid is on backorder, should be available Aug. 25.

I did find some SS door handles that match the cooking grates! Lol

In a bin at our local hardware store, I’ll check the package tomorrow and provide the manufacturer info.

Amazon has a large selection of those kind of handles. Check home depot as well.
