First post here. Been reading as much as I can so far. From research I have done this looks like a 2004 with no cabinet. As is the norm, bottom shelf is rusted out in the corner. I did find a rack on Ebay part #60145. Came from a 2003 Gold. I am pretty sure it will fit, if not. It will be for sale LOL. $100 for the grill. Including two full tanks. So basically a wash with todays propane cost. How did I do? Just sharing what I found and will update progress. Going to get my 15 yo son to help with the restore. Should be a fun summer project.

Cheers!

Welcome Rob, that sounds like a fun project with your son! If you end up cleaning the inside of the firebox out with a wire cup brush and an angle grinder, make sure you and your boy wear eye protection and long sleeves when you do it. Also, there are some who fashion tables out of wood or synthetic deck material like Trex for the bottom pan area, this approach prevents water from pooling on the bottom. Have a look at the cross member on the frame where the left side of the cook box attaches, that is an area notorious for rust as well, and you can easily replace that part if you need to. Have fun!

How much did you pay for the rack? The price of the grill is a bit much for a flip grill, but if it going to be a personal grill and this what you were after, then I think you did fine.
Please keep us updated on the restore and so glad to see you getting your son involved.

Welcome to the forum Rob.

Welcome to the forum Rob.
63 bucks! Shipped. It was on EBay. I don’t plan to flip it. I like older stuff. That works. I just brought it home today. No rust at all. Except some tiny spots. And the tray. Since I have another gas Weber. Genesis 2 SE 4 burner. And a Blackstone 36. Having the two full propane tanks made this a zero cost (in my head) purchase. I’m definitely not skilled enough for the flip game. Just fun. And hope to show the old guy I bought it from what his grill used to look like. He is a neighbor.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Those wire racks are getting hard to find, but yes, it should work just fine on that grill. Good luck with your restoration!
This was literally the only one I could find anywhere. The day i commited to the grill I started looking for replacements and was getting very afraid I would strike out. Googled the part number I found here. And one popped up. Bought it instantly. Lol.

I told you to do that a couple of times. All the nice, free grills you come across are money in the bank just in NLA parts!

Yep, those bottom wire racks are one thing that limits my restores on silver B's. Too many are either they are missing or have succumbed to the rust gods. And sadly, no one makes them any longer.

Condition update. Looks to be completely Rust free. Surface rust excluded. Nothing structural. Burners are good to go. I think the igniter housing?? Needs replacing. See pic. Not sure if the terminology or what part I need but I’m sure it’s not supposed to look like that. Flavo bars are toast. But that’s expected. Drip tray looks good to go. Functions well. Blue flames. Can’t tell the serial. Maybe y’all can assist. Am I right iN my 2004 estimate?

Thanks.

If you can make out that second character in the serial number, you will get a definitive date from that. The photo too blurry for me to even make a guess.

1994-Today: “AUTHORIZED” Code

Starting with the 1994 model year, Weber switched to a two-letter alphabetic code representing the model year of Weber charcoal grills, using the word “AUTHORIZED” as the key. As with the previous code scheme, this two-letter code was stamped into the lid damper of each charcoal kettle. For the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker, the code was stamped into the lid damper and all three charcoal bowl dampers. On some Performer grills, the code can also be found on labels on the rear panel of the grill or on bar code stickers under the control panel or stainless steel charbin cover.

Get a new ignition since you have the grill open. They are between $8 and $14 on line or sometimes the local hardware store has them if they are a Weber dealer.

Yes, the new ignitors come with the box, the ceramic element inside, two wires and the button that they attach to on the control panel. And yes, they are that inexpensive. Worth the few bucks they cost in convenience, but they do wear out like yours.
18 bucks at my local Ace. Will prob grab one today. Went a little budget on the flavo bars for now. Did the Amazon route. Will look at higher quality ones later. Just want to get it going then upgrade as necessary. I want to restore the logo. Are people taking it off the lid? Or painting it attached. Doesn’t seem like it would come off very easily. Prob a dumb question.
