Hi guys,

just checking in to report my 1st smoke of 2008 with my brand new Maverick ET73!

Doing 2 fat slabs of BB using a hybrid BRITU style. I was puzzled because my temp was still 279 (according to the ET73 on the top grate) after sitting for an hour!

When I added the slabs the temp settled around 225

I'll report more later about how I like the Maverick etc.

these turned out awesome! 6hrs exactly.

I really liked the ET73, was able to keep in in the kitchen and it worked flawlessly the whole cook.

Congrats on the ribs. I really like my 73 as well for the same reasons. Anxiously waiting for the rotie version.

I used my brand new ET-73 this weekend also-cooked a brisket. I was getting fustrated with it when I couldnt get the receiver to display the current meat and cooker temps. Then I realized I had to register it again (I first registered it when I opened the box). I guess this is necessary before each use. After that it worked like a charm.

I'm not sure what you mean by "register". To get the temps to show, I turn the reciever on first and then turn on the transmitter. If I forget, I just switch the tranmsitter off and on, and it starts to work.

The Maverick instructions use the term "register" which in essence is just turning on the transmitter and then immediately turning on the receiver. Once they pair with each other you will hear a beep from the receiver. I did this when I first opened the box but I needed to do it again when I began my cook. I guess it needs to be done in that order each time it is used.
