1999 master touch ash catcher hood

I have this old grill my late b-i-l had, wife didn’t want it anymore so she gave it to me.
Wood handles rotted away, one leg with broken welds (I think I fixed), but other than that, it’s cookable.
I’ll clean it up a bit, then invite her over for dinner… she doesn’t eat meat chicken or fish so it’ll be a grilled vegetable extravaganza.

Anyway, here’s my dilemma.
How does this ash catcher hood attach?
No tabs like the newer models, only two slots across from each other (see photo with slots circled in red)

Thank you for reading and for any suggestions… AND solutions!

And thanks for swinging by!

They had a bracket that attached to those slots and it was held up by the ash sweeper handle.
There's a pic around here somewhere. ...

Retirement is great tho!
Yeah, only lose track of the days of the week now.
So, my brother-in-law (also named Tim) replaced the one touch handle sweeper system with the new model, which I don’t believe I’ll be able to attach my new bracket to.
The old sweeper system mechanism was a thumb screw that held the sweeper in place.

Now I’ll have to get creative.

I need to tweak the ring on the rotisserie kettle, that one does not sit right and I can’t figure out why! Self tapping screws will likely be the salvation for that particular headache! Thanks Jim, nice to hear from you!
