1880

A few years ago I found an 1880 in Davis CA and let a friend that lived closer know about it and he finally decided to pass it on to me, so here it is after a little clean up. I purposely left the patina on it.

One thing I noticed is the top grate is a chromed charcoal grate from an 18.5. the regular Smokey Joe grates won't fit, which is why they retooled the mid section I guess. Did these even come with a lower grate? I didn't see one on yours either Chris.

Mine has the C on all of the top and bottom dampers. I also have an original 1880 cover still in the package and I have a pristine original brochure. Are all of the top handles installed offset?

I will add a few more photos later.

Mine didn't have the lower grate when I bought it, but it apparently existed. See the circled part below, part number 72200.

That original cover is awesome, what a great piece!

Please post a photo of the brochure, I assume it's the same as what I've got, but would like to confirm.

And no, my lid handle is not offset.

That Rudolph red nose is funny. :D

Thanks, the weird thing is the top grate in the schematic shows the top grate having handles and the bottom grate upside down. I know the charcoal grate from the 18.5 kettle was either used on the top or bottom, so it it possible you and I are just missing the top grate with the handles? I would be interested to know if the top grate from a newer model fits on it. On the "offset" handle I just meant not centered. The red nose is actually a bake light handle I had. I will pou more pictures up including the brochure. I think it's just like yours.

The middle cooking grate is the same as the charcoal grate from a 22.5" kettle ( 17" )
It's just been plated, not raw steel like the coal grate.

Edit: nevermind I was thinking on the 18.5" WSM not the little guy.
