1880 leg fitment issue

so I took my 1880 apart. got most of it cleaned up and shiny. was just messing with the legs going on the
body and it seems like the angles are all wrong. I noticed that there was some deforming around were the
legs attached when I took it apart but just chalked it up to rough handling. now trying to fit the legs I now
know why that deformation is there. if I fit the lower part of the leg to the bowl the upper part of the leg
comes in at an angle. this is not normal. the edge of the upper part of the leg touches the bowl and the
gap to the lower area of the hole is near 2 mm or just under a 1/8 inch. that is a largish gap and is just not normal.
if I just secure the lower part of the leg to the bowl then the upper part of the leg is at least a 1/4 in off the bowl.
any one notice this on their 1880 ? almost seems like they are the wrong legs.
anyway, I just do not like it so most likely I will bend the leg to fit.

Sorry. Never took the legs off mine. I'm not sure I quite understand your fit concern, but if you want me to take some measurements, let me know specifically what you would like. In general, I'd be surprised if I didn't need to bend or somehow persuade the legs into place after taking them off. Did you try putting them on in different locations? Maybe they fit specific holes in the charcoal bowl (as in they need to go back in the order they were originally installed). Not likely, but maybe.

No measurements really needed, thanks. But legs on the bowls have never been position sensative far as I have ever seen. Its just that I have put many grills apart and together and I have never seen them this bad or off.

welllll, after further investigating, I found some pics of the 1880 including the manual listed here in tvwb and some pics and the manual on the weber site
it is rather obvious that the 1880 has a straight leg meeting the upper hole were as the new 14.5 wsm has a bend in the upper part so the leg meets
flush to the bowl. so I guess the fit in the early days was not a priority. guess I got some bending to do.
