Mike thank you for the Omaha tip. I saw the 18.5 today at Ace hardware...it was tempting. I will tell the wife to order if off AmazonOriginally posted by Mike Hartwell:

I got my 18.5 at outdoor kitchen on center (just behind Nobbies). At the time, the store didn't have new one and they were too lazy to get one out the warehouse for me, so I got them to turn loose of the floor model for $225, plus I bought some other stuff.
The Ace here in Fremont won't bend on price.

Yes, all purchases made from Amazon (including my dog food) using the TVWB link, result in a contribution to TVWB. I simply linked to Amazon using Chris' link, copied the url and made a link on the tool bar of my browser that I named "Amazon TVWBB". When I click on it, this is the Amazon url that results: http://www.amazon.com/?ie=UTF8...code=hom&*entries*=0 . Note the "...virtualweber...".

Is there any documentation on the difference between the current model WSM 18.5" and the The pre-2009 WSM?

Well, after reading a lot of posts I zipped over to Home Depot and checked out the 18.5" and decided to wait and order the 22.5". My plan is that for the infrequent times I'm gonna use the smoker, I want to be able to do a significant amount of ribs just laying them flat without using racks. It seems like to get let's say six racks of ribs in there, I need the 22,5". So I guess that's what I'm gonna get.
I bought a kettle 22.5 in the meanwhile .

I eventually went for the 18.5" for several reasons. One, my Brinkman had plenty of space for 4 racks of ribs, which is more then my family can eat with plenty of extras for friends/left overs.
Not to mention the extra fuel costs and unit cost. I was able to use the extra $100 that I saved for some fine accessories and charcoal. wsm:
