18.5" Charcoal grate

Does anyone know if the Charcoal grate gap issue has been resolved? I know this has been discussed in the past but from what I can find it doesn't look like there has been a definite answer. So did Weber update the 18.5" charcoal grate for '09 or not?

Edit: Minor warning. I was wrong -- this grate is smaller. It is labelled by Weber as 18.5" (for an 18.5" grill) but is actually 13.5". (This small grate fits inside the charcoal ring just as Chris A has specified!)

But for '10 it may be different. I stopped by Home Depot yesterday and picked up an 18.5 charcoal grate for $8.97. Unlike the grate in my '09 18.5 WSM, it has an extra bar on each side. I got it to double the grates at 90 degrees to prevent charcoal falling through (after my last smoke, I recovered at least a half pound of charcoal from the ashes). The new grate would have elimnated most of that. Rich
 
Do you have a part# on that Rich?
Last time I checked the HD by me still had the old style.

Sorry, Tim. This is turning into a very minor warning. Although the lable is Weber and it says 18.5", that is the grill size -- this grate size is 13.5". I thought it looked small but was in a hurry and distracted, so I ignored my feeling. This part lable is 7040. Smaller, but as Chris says in his doc, perfect for inside the charcoal ring. (This corrects an edit I made that said this grate won't work -- it works fine.) Rich
 
Ah, that's the same one I have for the double grate mod, Just like Chris A uses here.
Good news is that it will still work, I use lump, and been using it since 08.( they change the part # occasionally)

DOH!! Thanks, Tim! I read about the double grate some time ago and had forgotten the size Chris used. I was looking to cover the entire 18.5 inch grate

And now I've wired in the new charcoal grate to the charcoal ring. What a convenience!
