12 charcoals for the minion method with the new Kingsford?

I only lit 12 charcoals this time and the minion method worked extremely well this cook...
 
Rob, I agree. 12 has worked well for me for several cooks. It'll get you 18 hours on a full ring of charcoal in good cooking conditions.

Glad it worked out Rob!

I change the number I use based on the amount of meat I'm cooking. A small cook like 3 racks of baby backs only seems to need 10 to 12 like you did. If I'm cooking 30 pounds of pork butts, I'll bump it up to around 25 lit to start.

It's all part of the art.

I don't see where your from Rob, but if you are in a cold weather area, you will want to bump it up a good shot in the winter also.
