adding charcoal

I am entering a rib competition and I need a way to fill the water pan on my WSM without a hose. I am also looking for ways to add more charcoal during the cooking session. Usually I just open the door and add scoops of unlit. I'm just wondering if anyone has any other ideas. Thanks in advance...
