Hello everyone,
Totally new to the forum here.
Title says it all
I own a 15 year old Summit Platinum D6 with the side burner. It has served me well and I have tried to take good care of it.
Even had top lid break off and replaced by Weber about 10 years ago. (I opened it when there was about 6 inches of snow on it and the lid just snapped off..doh!).
Anyway, to the point. The gas controller valve on the side burner is completely frozen. I took it off to try and repair it but the screws are frozen and stripped. I tried all the "remove stripped screws" techniques I could but none worked.
I called Weber and they no longer sell either the valve or the complete side burner assembly, so no luck there. No online grill companies have them for that model either. The lady at Weber gave me the part number for the side burner assembly (42768).
My one hope was maybe I could find the company that actually made the valve for Weber and buy it from them.
So, if any of you have ever replaced that particular valve or know of an alternate source for one , it would be very appreciated.
I can live without the burner but will miss it dearly as I use it often when I fry things to avoid smoke and fire in the kitchen.
Sorry this was so long winded.
Thanks for any help you may offer.
Bruce
