Competing Team Rules, Judging, and General Information

REGISTRATION FROM 12PM-3PM SATURDAY AUGUST 16TH
- Each team will be provided with a 12’ x 12’ space for cooking. Teams are encouraged
to bring shade tents, chairs, coolers, etc. Teams that are in need of an electric hookup will
be supplied with a 15 AMP hookup for an additional charge of $10.00. There will also be
community water for your spaces/pits, along with restrooms.

- All teams will be required to bring all of their own equipment – grills, smokers, utensils,
serving vessels, etc.to prepare and serve selected meats for judges.

- All teams are responsible for purchasing their own meats for the contest

- ALL MEATS will be inspected for temperature upon arrival (40 degrees or below,
internal temp) ALL MEATS MUST ARRIVE RAW, NO EXCEPTIONS. ALL MEATS
MUST BE COOKED AND PREPARED ON SITE.

- Each team will have their own designated pit area for the two day event (16th & 17th)

- All vehicles must be parked on North side of The Bosch parking lot after being
unloaded.

- Upon arrival, please go to the check in booth to get your team’s packet. You will then
be directed to your space/pit. Please do not start setting up till you have received your
packet. (Packet will include pit location, wrist bands and judging information.)

- Each team member must wear wrist bands at all times (found in packet)

- The PIT ROW will be located behind the old Ritzmans Appliance store (southeast
corner of Bosch parking lot)

- The judging style will be “On Site Judging” – meaning the judges will come to your
pit and you will have a few minutes to wow and present your BBQ -- Explain how you
prepared your meat and why your BBQ is the best.
Teams will be evaluated on:
• site/pit appearance
• appearance of the entry
• tenderness, texture, flavor of each entry
• overall impression.
•Remember presentation is key, so when serving your meat to the judges, be sure to
supply appropriate plates, cutlery, napkins, etc.

- The judging will be from 1 PM to 3 PM on Sunday August 17th

-You will be notified 20 minutes prior to judging

- Meat must be presented to judges with an internal temperature over 140 F on a serving
vessel of your choice. Meat can be sauced or dry. Sauce may be served on the side.

- Teams are welcome to sleep in their pit spaces or cars. Quiet time will be from 2:30
a.m. (bar close) – 7:00 a.m.

ALL TEAMS MUST BE REGISTERED & UNLOADED BY 3PM SAT AUGUST 16TH
JUDGING WILL BE ON SITE BETWEEN 1PM-3PM SUNDAY AUGUST 17TH

Thank you for your participation in this event!

There will be live music from 1PM-5PM in The Bosch Beer Garden, along with some
great smoked meats and craft beers being served up by the men and women of the Hales
Corners Fire Department! Beer tastings, giveaways, and raffles all day. A portion of
proceeds from the day’s event will go towards the Hales Corners Fire Department.

I'll be at this comp on Sunday between noon and 3, not competing (sorry, perhaps next year).
Any locals west of the Milwaukee area, I look forward to bumpin' into you. :D
I'll be wearing a TVWBB T-shirt. Just look for the bald guy with a beer in his hand.
